Yes Mike, presently I have that same exact experience with my present speaker system when I use solid state electronics with them-a bit too bright on the upper frequencies even when using very expensive components. On the other these effects not only go entirely away when using Audio Research Corporations tube electronics. Not only that but When using tube electronics these same speakers sound about as good as it gets for a speaker of its small size even today-and they, except for an upgraded 4 inch midrange driver and new wiring is 30 years old. Yes Mike, the simple substitution from solid state to tube electronics itself can change the audio reproduction totally.
